Yemen: Emergency Aid in a Crisis Area

Since the beginning of the fighting in 2015, the situation in Yemen has been worsening dramatically. A famine has struck the population and the civilian infrastructure is collapsing more and more. Many people lack basic services, such as water, food or health care, while repeated outbreaks of cholera place an additional burden on the population. The German Red Cross is supporting the Yemen Red Crescent Society primarily in the health sector by equipping and financing medical facilities, including a cholera treatment centre and an emergency gynaecology unit. We also provide food and drinking water as well as hygiene kits to prevent cholera.
