Mission: Goals, tasks and self-understanding of the GRC

The appeal of the GRC is based on the idea of humanity. But to implement this idea in a large organisation, a uniform self-understanding as well as clearly defined goals and principles are essential. In this section you can read about the principles of the German Red Cross, as they were proclaimed for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement by the XX. International Conference of the Red Cross in 1965.

The GRC strategy defines how the GRC plans to develop and how it will orientate itself in the future. In accordance with the Geneva Convention that was signed by the Federal Republic of Germany, the German Red Cross was appointed as a National Aid Society by the Federal Government. On account of this special position, special tasks have been assigned to the organisation that can be found in the law relating to the GRC.
