Training opportunities for emergency response delegates
Emergency Response Unit (ERU)
ERUs are part of the global IFRC disaster response system and have been an important component in international relief operations for over 20 years. They are standardised packages of trained personnel and modules of equipment, ready to be deployed at short notice for use in any part of the world. GRC provides different ERUs in the sectors of Health and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
In ERU training seminars, participants will learn about the RCRC Movement, its response tools and the basics of disaster management. They will develop the theoretical and practical skills essential in emergency response as well as the required health and WASH specific knowledge. All ERU training seminars are held in English.
Rapid Deployment Mechanism (RDM)
The ICRC RDM was created as a way to bring additional capacity for rapid response to emergencies if needed. If the RDM is activated, GRC can support the response with personnel and equipment. The associated security training is targeted at experienced emergency response delegates and serves as an expanded training on security and risk management for ICRC contexts. The course is held in English.
